Whoooop!

Jerri has finally been voted off the island! I'm sure she's not the baddie that the producers make her out to be, but I still hate her.

~~~~~~~~~
Mr. William Bell, author of Forbidden CIty, is here in my school library, teaching the grade 7's how to say "Hello Teacher" in Mandarin. It's pretty funny, hearing those chatty grade 7's speaking in unison, without giggling in between.
Killerwhaletank, poutine, beavertail, and Tim's double double. If you didn't understand that, move on. If you did, amuse youself here. Webcomics From Canada 'Cause Canadians Are Funny. Go check it out.
Hoooooo mercy! One girl just asked how to read Chinese by looking at pictures. The same way you read any other language, ya schmuck, you learn to recognize the characters and go on from there.
~~~~~~~~~

Now Mr. Bell is telling them about the events that lead up to the Tiananmen Square massacre in 1989. Uh, calling it something "bad" is a little bit of an understatement. Oh, and there's a deep, sorrowful "Awwww....." from the audience.

It's another cold, grey day. *sigh* I need hot chocolate, a good book and no school. ^_^

Well, March Break is over and done with. I'm in denial though (it's not the 27! it's still the 20, I swear!) and can't quite accept the fact that school is started again.

Recap of my break:

Monday and Tuesday: did nothing. Mooched around the house, slept in until 9 am (very late for me), watched movies, catched up on email stuff, pointedly ignored the physics homework I was assigned.

Wednesday and Thursday: Helped out at Teens' Conference 2001. All I have to say is..."All your base are belong to us!" I am now thouroughly sick of PowerPoint and iffy projectors.

Friday: Recuperated from TC. Agape afterwords. Remembered at the last minute that we were going to Kingston and Niagara Falls the next day. Was too tired to care.

Saturday to Tuesday: Packed last minute, drove to Kingston to visit my gor gor. His house is actually very nice (but the people renting upstairs are *ahem* somewhat prone to coming home at 5 am and his landlady is paranoid about two Christian guys getting drunk and burning down her house on St. Paddy's Day). Niagara was nice. Lots of fat Americans in tacky T-shirts and little Japanese people wandering around the hotel.

Wednesday: Unpacked. TV. "Father-Daughter day" a.k.a. ate lunch with Dad and rented two movies: Snow White (the scary 1997 version--Dad's choice) and Not One Less (Chinese movie about a substitute teacher in a country village).

Thursday and Friday: Considered doing my homework but the lure of the 8 books I borrowed from the library got to me.

Saturday: Went to Jen's house to watch movies (plural). And a hike. Through the woods. In the mud. Into a hydro field. Cold. Windy. Got to see people getg pelted by snowballs (iceballs?). Jen's snowdance worked a little....flurries here and there. Back to the house. Watched The Crow, Gladiator, X-Men and the first bit of Jen's KareKano tape (Miyazawa's insane chase scene).

Sunday: Went to church, ate lunch, slacked off.....Oh, and I finally did my homework.

Sick of those monotonous shots of ceiling fans and empty hallways in Neon Genesis Evangelion? Go to Toasty Frog's Thumbnail Theaters for spiffy Eva spoofs. here are a couple of random quotes:

Misato: "Shinji, even though you're an incompetent, spineless wimp, you're the best incompetent, spineless wimp we have. I just wanted to say thanks, for letting us push you around."

Toji: "You jerk! Eat my fist!"

Shinji: "Hmm. Maybe I should change my name to Oedipus."

Walkman: "(click)"

Unit-00: "GWAAAAAARRRR!"
Misato: "I don't think it's supposed to do that."

Misato: "Well, get a tire kit or whatever and patch him up. In the meantime, we'll come up with a miraculous last ditch effort to stop that Angel!"

Kaji: "Hey, babycakes."
Misato: "NOOOOOOO!!"

Asuka: *beep boop BLAAAT!* "This is all Shinji's fault! Shinji, you suck!"
Rei: *beep boop bip* "Actually, Asuka, you suck."

Still 4 more days until the bliss that is known as March Break. Too bad those last four days are packed with test, assignments and last minute stress.

I just wrote an algeo test (ch.5 - equations of lines in space). I finished it in about half an hour. While I was checking my test (to make sure that 2+2 was indeed 4, not 9.736) when I noticed I was missing a page of questions. So I went up to my teacher and told her I was missing a page. Little did I know that the whole class was also missing it. So we had to write more. It wasn't hard, but pooh! No one wants to write a longer test!

Oh and as to the song below...that would be Duvet by Boa. Any anime fan will probably know what I'm talking about. The song was used as the opening music for the anime series "Serial Experiments Lain". From what I've heard, the band Boa has done really well in Japan because of the song's popularity.

Luckily for us North Americans, the band will be releasing a CD in N.A. sometime this month. At the HMV website, it says that the album is being released today, but those stingy people at HMV are charging almost $30 Canadian for it. The album is entitled "Twilight" and is actually a redone version of their original first album, "Race of A Thousand Camels", which was not released in North America. "Twilight" has all the tracks from this album, (including Duvet), as well as some new songs, and the cyberia remix of Duvet.

In short....I want to get it. Now, if only I could find a store that sells it at a reasonable price...

Duvet
Lyrics by Jasmine Rodgers
Music by Boa

And you don't seem to understand
A shame you seemed an honest man
And all the fears you hold so dear
Will turn to whisper in your ear
And you know what they say might hurt you
And you know that it means so much
And you don't even feel a thing

I am falling, I am fading,
I have lost it all

And you don't seem the lying kind
A shame that I can read your mind
And all the things that I read there
Candle-lit smile that we both share
And you know I don't mean to hurt you
But you know that it means so much
And you don't even feel a thing

I am falling, I am fading, I am drowning,
Help me to breathe
I am hurting, I have lost it all
I am losing
Help me to breathe

Darn Smarch Weather...

There's nothing like a good 3 inches of snow to usher in a new month.

And on another note, Tim's Journal will only be up and running for another 5 months because the aforesaid Tim has to go back to Asia. I don't know why that means he can't update it but oh well.
