I'm free! Free! No school for two glorious days! Studying, but no school! We're having a surprise birthday party for my aunt tomorrow. Did I mention no more driving classes? "Lang chane! Lang chane! Sticky eye!" Heh heh heh. At robotics right now, but my team has, I don't know, disappeared. So I"m waiting for Ming and whoever else is getting a ride from her to finish. Doo, dee, doo, dee....

Cold and wet and sad.

Cold...because it's November.
Wet...because it's a sopping wet November.
Sad...because my grandma is away for a month. In Hong Kong. :...(

11.28.2001

I've been sick for the last couple of days. Not good. Exams in less than two weeks, ISU deadlines looming...and supposedly I'm not eating enough. Bah. I've been eating plenty. The stress from exams is just whittling away at me. Can't talk, must work.

11.25.2001

And now for something completely different... New template soon. What can I say? I'm tired of brown. Already. Yeesh.

And speaking of changes: Wow. Purply.

11.23.2001

The Webel strikes again. I was sorting through my email when I found an old 'Life' email from Gen. I think she's having trouble with her computer:

"i also managed to burn my cdr drive to some horrible death which is really odd b/c they're pretty hard to destroy without physically smashing it. i know, its a gift."

And later...
"oh ****, i forgot the gratuitious swearing."

DOOM. Exam schedule up. DOOM. Calculus first. DOOM. Physics last. DOOM. Two weeks. DOOM. That is all. DOOM.

11.21.2001

Now all I have to do is wait. Until April. Finally finished my university applications! I was scared to write anything on the form at all, because I know I'd make a mistake (and I did...I put the code for Queen's Arts instead of Science. D'oh.) Now I need to work on my Economics and Chem ISUs. And catch up on my sleep. ZZZ.

11.19.2001

Home Alone. Just finishied watching Home Alone in the common room. Now I feel all Christmas-y.

Bugger. Got up at 4.45am Sunday, only to find the sky completely overcast with evil, evil clouds. Darn, darn, darn. Supposedly, in downtown Toronto, it was clear though, as well as further north. Why? Why?

11.17.2001

Sleep = good. Spent the entire morning working on the school newspaper, the entire afternoon at driving class, and the entire evening typing up articles because I wasn't given a copy on disk. Notice that 'homework' didn't appear on the list. Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow?

Oh, and there's going to be an amazing meteor shower tonight (Leonids). It's the first time I'll be able to see one because it's usually been cloudy. BUT. The best time to view it is at 5 AM. Gak. Sleep....or meteor shower that won't be seen for another 100 hundred years. If I manage to wake up in time, I'll go see it.

Linky link: Moshi Moshi!. Very cute design (chibi people), a group blog, and in French. Check it out.

Blippity blip. The Computer is making funny noises at me. Blip blip blip. Very strange. Stop it! Hssssss!

Be Afraid. I'm really an android...

Link from Tokyo Tales.

Finally! After a week of frantic cramming and hours at a computer, I'm finished my english essay! If it didn't cost so much, I'd toss this baby out the window (the book I mean, not the computer). Good bye Lily Bart! At least I won't have to worry about reading it again until exam time.

Question: Who is Razzly?

Calculus is evil.

11.14.2001

Alright Wesley! In case you haven't heard, Wil Wheaton will be returning to TNG. Or at least the next (and last :( ) Star Trak: Next Generation movie. I wonder how they'll bring Wesley back from wherever he went with the Traveller. Spiffy! "WHEEE!" indeed. ^_^

Guuuuuuh... I just spent 4 hours writing an essay about The House of Mirth. That is all. Good night.

Edit: so tired that I forgot to end my underline tag. oops.

11.13.2001

Avalon. This mirrors my situation at school so much that it's scary. University? OUAC forms? Next week?!

Speaking of university applications, the guidance counselor made another student cry. The counselor encouraged her at the beginning of the year to apply to as many American universities as she wanted. Today, she told her point blank not to try, that there wasn't any point in applying because her chances of being accepted was "virtually zero." Some guidance. It's been happening for years now, the same person telling people not to apply to Ivy League, Oxford, special programs, etc. because they wouldn't get in.

Nooo~! Extension to the chem assignment. I don't mean the good, don't-hand-it-in-until-friday type. More like a here's-an-extra-ten-problems-have-fun extension. Bugger.

Some memorable quotes.

"Karate is a form of martial arts in which people who have had years and years of training can, using only their hands and feet, make some of the worst movies in the history of the world." -- Dave Barry

"If it's supposed to move and it doesn't, spray with WD-40; if it's not supposed to move and it does, wrap with duct tape; if it's more complicated than this, use a Swiss Army knife."

"There are two types of people in this world: those who think giant steam powered robotic spiders are stupid, and those who don't." -- Bryan F. Theiss

"No sprinkles! For every sprinkle I find, I shall kill you!" -- Evil baby from The Family Guy

"Happy is the man who can laugh at himself, for he will never cease to be amused."

Hey! That's mine! I seem to have a mirror site. Pardon me, but I believe that is my template, image and title. The image is even linked from my Geocities site. And visits to it are recorded in my referrals. I'm a little annoyed because I spent a lot of time on this template (yes, laugh at my pitifully slow HTML skills), but I wrote it all by myself (whoop) with no help, except for colours from htmlgoodies.com. And within ten days, someone steals my code. >:(

Remembrance Day... Lest we forget.

In Flanders' fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly,
Scarce heard amidst the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders' fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe,
To you from falling hands we throw
The Torch - be yours to hold it high;
If ye break faith with us who die.
We shall not sleep though poppies grow
In Flanders' fields.

In Flanders' Fields was written by Lt. Col. John McCrae of Guelph, Canada. Died January 28, 1918 while on active service in France. The wars that he and countless others fought in may be over, but more seem to be on their way. When will there truly be peace?

11.09.2001

Driving class tomorrow. Not actually driving...it's the in-class lessons (i.e. nap sessions). 1.45 to 5.55pm. I don't know how I've been staying awake. I've mostly been doing homework during them, because all the info is common knowledge (green means go, red means stop, turn the steering wheel to change direction, getting into car crashes is bad, etc). Only two more to go.

Have you ever noticed... what a funny word 'pantry' is?

11.08.2001

Gah...cable modem... I think Dad is willing to get cable or high speed internet now that he's seen all the stuff the Minger has on his computer: Monsters Inc. (bad quality though), all of the episodes of Enterprise that have been aired so far, the Transformers movie (extremely good quality, but over 600 MB), etc. I'm downloading Trigun right now. ^_^

Speaking of Queen's... We're going to go visit my brother at Queen's in about half an hour. Sleeping over at his house. And no, Homing, I'm not staying in the living room with you with, or without earplugs. You snore like a Mack truck in a blender, being flushed down a noisy toilet while coughing like a pig stuck under a fence. You're staying with dad! I can't make it any clearer than that.

University, ho! Visited Guelph, Waterloo and McMaster yesterday. Now I'm scared of going to university. Everyone looked so busy and stressed. Come to think of it, they looked a lot like me and my grad class (grammar?) this term.

Guelph was stinky. Well, it smelled like horse manure the whole time we were there (farming nearby). There was a big poster sale in the main hall (Rei Ayanami poster! Jen bought it. The one with the moon in the background).

Waterloo was stinky. Rotting leaves and all. Lots of Canadian geese and squirrels (or as Jen calls them, "tree rats"). That is all.

McMaster was spiffy. I like the dorms (especially the railing inside the stairwells...keeps students from "falling" during midterms). Apparently, it's tradition to hit on people on university tours. Some guy yelled out a phone number at us from his dorm window. Meg: "Whatever!", to which Dorm Guy yells back, "WHATEVER TO YOU TOO!" Riiiiight.

Oh, and McMaster was stinky, too. I'm thinking Queen's right now.

I ruv DigitalRice! Alright! I just got my activation email! No more pop-ups! Wa ha ha ha ha! See the old website (minus the title picture) here: http://kobuta.digitalrice.com. Will be moving in soon, but I think I have to upload all my image files again.

As usual, the bwg reminds us of the good things in life:sleep of the innocent. And I've thought about this, too. What would Hong Kong, or even China, be like today, if there had been no outside influence?

Pictures. Came back from church today, only to find that the backyard had...vanished. Well, half of it was completely covered with a 6 inch layer of maple leaves. So, naturally, I took some pictures. And tried to get my grandma to jump in the huge pile that we swept up. And lugged the patio table into the basement (downstairs). Here they are:

One of the four maple trees in the backyard.
Same tree, but with the sun out. Rickety birdhouse.
Other side of the backyard. Pretty trees! ^_^

Car accident. We (Ming, Alli, Mon&Mon and I) were on our way back from a charity lunch at another school in Ming's car, when blue Honda rear-ended us. It was by accident of course, and there wasn't much damage (a little scratch on the bumper), but Ming was really shaken. My neck still aches a little and I got a headache (partly due to the crappy rainy weather). The thing is, it was only a little bump, but the impact snapped my head forward (it HURT)... So imagine the force of a big car crash on a highway, for example. Eep.

11.01.2001

Here goes... Uploading new template now. I figured I should give blue a break, and think of something different. I've discovered that I like brown and beige...in small doses. Need to play around with the sidebar a bit. Please work, please work, please work...
