Hooray!

We're off! Tomorrow, actually. 10 days of camping and rafting. I'll be back around the first (if I survive) with updates. I'm going to try to keep a daily journal...might type it up and post it all. Seeya soon!

Well, two days until (Dad's) big camping trip in (freezing cold) Northern B.C. (with many unfriendly bears, squirrels, various forest animals with sharp teeth).

I expect I'll get a lot of weird search engine referrals for just posting this, but it's too funny not to share (as the bwg has done...that's where I got the link). And now, The B'rynn's Penis Trilogy. No, it's not dirty or gross. Think kiddy cute.

It's my crack.

I've found a new addiction. So far, I can't along without Pocky, iced tea, Hong Kong style tea, tofu...and now, bubble tea. Anyone who has been a Chinese or Asian mall has probably seen stores or cafes with bubble tea as their main product. Basically, bubble tea consists of black or green tea, with or without milk and/or a yummy flavouring. And little gummy tapioca balls (a.k.a. pearls, boba). There's a recipe for it at the TenRen website, here. Mmm....tapiOca...

I got a phone call from my dad yesterday, halfway through my volunteering session at the hospital...

Dad: Hey...I can come pick you up today.

Me: Okay. *feels v lucky as is extremely hot outside and am sick of inefficient TTC service*

Dad: We'll go to Pacific for lunch and then I'll bring you to the doctor.

Me: Wait, what doctor? Why?

Dad: For your tetanus shot.

Me: *massive face fault*

Ugh. Hit a new high today: 40 degrees Celsius. 45 with the humidex. And it still hasn't rained yet! Raar! Hand me a Fudgsicle and some iced tea. I'll see you in about a week, when it gets cool enough to come up from the basement.

Wow. Scott McNeill sure gets around. I was looking at the CN Anime/Sci Fi Expo/Comic Con website and found him on the guest list. The guy has done voices for tons of animated series, including characters such as Rattrap (cheering) and Waspinator (more cheering) from Beast Machines, the original Piccolo from DBZ, and Duo Maxwell in Gundam Wing (not much to say here. I'm not particularly fond of the GW dubbing. Heck, I'm not fond of any English dubbing I've hear so far). He's also done voices for Reboot, the Escaflowne dub (twitching here), Mummies Alive and...G.I. Joe?

I just find it really strange, because now that I think about it, I can recognize his voice in so many of those series. And yes, I watch all, (or at least most of), those shows. Embrace the toon!

Other guests at the con include: William "The Paunch" Shatner, James Doohan, Peter Mayhew (a.k.a. Chewie), Ethan Philips (Neelix), Yumi Touma (Japanese voice actress for Ah! Megami-sama!, Lodoss and Fushigi Yuugi), and a plethora of voice actors of anime dubs (...). There will also be lots of comic book artists and writers that I've never heard of because I don't read comic books. Check out the websites here. The event is at the Metro Convention Centre, from August 24 to 26.

Sucks, though. I won't be in town that weekend. But now I know what I'm missing. :)

I'll have a large order of smog with a side of aphids.

It's been a strange summer in Toronto (weatherwise). There have been more smog alerts than I can count and for the past couple of weeks, the average temperature has been hovering above 30 celsius. And no rain. The result is that whenever I venture outside (I'm turning into a girl-shaped piece of tofu) a wave of hot, sticky, soggy air slams into me. The usual result is that I'm swept back indoors towards the closest a/c vent.

To top it all off, a cloud of aphids has descended on certain areas of downtown T.O. Yesterday it was so bad that it obscured most of the Blue Jays game at the Skydome. Which wasn't such a bad thing, since they lost. Hey...no great loss without some small gain, right?

Oh help. Please...say it isn't so.

Stuff to do:
- pick up library books on hold (2)
- return overdue books (8)
- mail in overdue school forms (many)
- pack for camping trip
- track down missing CDs (3)
- track down missing CD cases (4...?)
- get together with previously absent friends (3)
- see more summer movies (?)

Damn, damn, damn!

"Ranma 1/2 Gets Theatrical Treatment -- This weekend Sony's Metreon's Action Theater in San Francisco, California will theatrically screen "The Best of Ranma," seven TV episodes culled from the upcoming limited edition Viz VHS boxed set. The screenings are free, and begin at 6 PM tonight, and Saturday and Sunday." (AnimeNation)

Why not a month earlier? Raaar!!

Carter: "Wait here. I'll be right back. Do you understand?"

HK Taxi Driver: "Oh! Of course I understand! Chi seen-ah!" VROOOM!

Heh. Rush Hour 2 is better than the first installment. Especially if you speak Cantonese. "Hang hoi ah, Kobe!" Heh heh heh.

Yes! Quitting in about a week or two. Booyah!
